For Ages: 13-18
Absolute Beginner to Intermediate French
Semi-Supervised Program
Students receive 15 French lessons per week, and each lesson is 45 minutes in duration. Lessons are held in the morning on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is reserved for the weekly full day excursion. Groups are small, from 6 students to 15 students maximum - and an average of 10 students per class. The lessons are a good balance between conversation, grammar, reading, listening and writing. Although this is an academic program, the emphasis is on the pleasure and benefits of learning the French language. Students return home positively motivated and eager to continue their studies. Often times this even helps to make the following academic year a more successful one. All students can expect:
- Expert and friendly teachers devoted to giving equal attention to each person's language objectives.
- Professional quality service.
- Dynamic teaching methods with a communicative approach.
- Attention to feedback and always ready to help.
- Prompt and efficient reaction to any potential queries.
- International student body and classroom atmosphere, with students attending from Western Europe, England, Ireland, North and South America, Ghana and several Eastern European Countries.
The prime objective of the program is to develop the language using oral expression, thus enabling the student to rapidly communicate in everyday situations. The training follows the contents and progression of a strict formula, to which authentic material is added to help the student get a better understanding of the social and cultural aspects of the language. The instructional method is above all interactive and communicative. The program is carefully structured, but sufficiently flexible, to allow progress according to each student's level and learning pace.
All teachers are qualified to teach French to foreign students (Diplôme de Français Langue Etrangère), and have excellent knowledge of the French culture and civilization. Many of them have lived and taught French abroad and speak several languages. This allows each teacher to more easily relate to students of different cultures. Together with their enthusiasm and spontaneity, they guarantee lively and effective lessons. Much of the teaching material is specific to FLE (Français Langue Etrangère) teaching methods and the rest is produced by the school. Teachers are constantly reviewing course material and methods, and consequently finding new ideas for different programs. Students can either borrow or purchase the textbook you require in class. On the first day of arrival, you will pay a small deposit (which varies depending on the student's level), and at the end of the course you can either keep the textbook, or have the deposit refunded (unless the textbook has been damaged).
