Top 7 Reasons for Teens to Study Abroad with NRCSA

7.) BE A WORLD TRAVELER!
Studying abroad offers you the opportunity to experience life in another city and country other than your own. Plus, many programs include fieldtrips and travel to a variety of sites of interest outside the host city.

6.) YOU'LL LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE MUCH FASTER THEN AT HOME!

Being constantly surrounded by native speakers of the language, on average, allows students to learn, on average, about as much in 4 to 8 WEEKS in the foreign country as they do in one or two SEMESTERS of study in their home country.

5.) YOU'LL MEET OTHER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD!
All our programs are multi-national and accept students from around the world. Many locations welcome students from as many as 20-30 countries each year!

4.) YOU CAN JOIN A PROGRAM SPENDING TIME DOING THE THINGS YOU LIKE THE BEST!
Do you like soccer? Beach volleyball? Horseback riding? Are you into music, art, cooking, or dancing? Many teen programs offer the opportunity for students to get involved with a number of different areas of interest in addition to the study of the local language and culture.

3.) YOU CAN LIVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S FAMILY FOR A WHILE!
It's always great to be a guest in someone's home... and experience another mom's great cooking! Many programs abroad offer students a chance to live with a "host family". Request a family with other teens your age, and the possibilities for a great time are endless. Alternatively, some teen programs offer student residence lodging (similar to a university dorm - but for high school students) instead of a homestay.

2.) IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO START BUILDING YOUR RESUME!
Applying for a job isn't the only time a diverse resume comes in handy. When you are applying to universities and colleges, any experiences that make you unique increase your chances of being accepted. Participating in school government and clubs, sports, volunteer work, and all types of international experiences all look great on your application form... and the more you've done when it comes time to apply, the better.

1.) YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND THE SUMMER BORED AT HOME, OR WORSE IN A SUMMER MATH CLASS!

This trip was definitely the best thing I have ever done in my life. All of the teachers were wonderful people and I am glad that I had the opportunity to learn and work with all of them.
- Kelsey, CA Attended Teen Program in Tarragona, Spain
I met a lot of people from different countries, I learned more things about their culture and I made a LOT of friends. I was by myself, independent and I learned to get around better. I lived for three weeks in another city and that was great!
-Loredana, NC Attended Teen Program in Montreal, Canada
The thing that I enjoyed the most about my foreign experience, was my interaction with teenagers from all over the U.S. and several different countries. I learned so much about several different cultures, in additon to Spain's, just by talking and hanging out with this diverse group of kids. I made some of the best friends of my life and we are all keeping in touch.
